Not all navigation systems or tools are the same.
One of the world's leading navigational equipment maker's technology has let us down on more than one occasion. Examples included
- advising us to turn right when the map clearly stated left,
- when we didn't ride down an overgrown path but stayed on the road, the system wanted us to do do U-turns for miles afterwards to get back on the route, and
- although the map (and navigation) was clearly set for road biking wanted us to use public footpaths, stairs and impassable roads when routing and re-routing.
Fortunately we run multiple different systems with two always active, and we have managed to correct on the fly (ride).
We are now very glad that we decided on this approach pre-event.
