The highlight of today was crossing the border into Scotland (see previous post) after having crossed the length of England from South to North and having at least visited Wales for a moment.
After having left Lancaster, riding along the canal, we soon entered the
lower reaches of the Lake District which was a sight to behold.
Today was also the first time we saw (and felt) rain on our trip.
And finally after 139km and 1,977 (6,486 ft) we arrived at the Old Smithy at Gretna Green, our springboard for the long ride to Edinburgh on Day 8.
And finally a view of our route which kept us off the main roads of as much of the ride as possible.
