We rode 125km and climbed 4,157 ft (1,267 m) and called it a day.
This was to allow our legs to recover but mainly to give Michael the opportunity to rest.
Considering his ADPKD and the significant reduction in kidney function, he battles through every day. Why you may ask? The kidneys help control water, salt, blood pressure, blood acidification, and waste removal in the body. During exercise, especially in hot weather, they work harder to keep him hydrated and maintain normal balance. For someone with chronic kidney disease, he dehydrates more easily, feels more tired, and struggles more with the heat during the cycle.
The day was very enjoyable.
We rode along a canal. Raced a tractor (and overtook it when there was enough space)Climbed through the most amazing rock formation. And stopped at RAF Cosford for Arlene to reminisce.
